A question on how to approach a project.

i admit sadly i get started with mmf and leave a project unfinished because some expansion came out for a game or someone just commissioned me for a portait .. and mmf gets forgotton for a bit til i remember im bored and wanna try again... so my learning curve is real slow here...

but basically my question is.... I bought a virtual tabletop thing for running online d&d compaigns... I wish to make something where you can fill out a character sheet and the program will save the sheet... (( hopefully nice and decorated)) into bmp format.. ie entire screen of sheet or 3 pages of a sheed (( equalling 3 sheets)) you just filled out... maybe added dice rolls or custom input.... so it can be imported into battlegrounds.... yet need the program to save the sheet in a native format in case person levels up and ect... and changes can be made for a new bmp export....

how should one approach this task....and what tools should be used?

    Hi Jikito.

Not entirely sure what it is you are trying to do here. Either...

    1.
You are creating a RPG in MMF and want to know how to do a character sheet for your character.

    2.
You are running an tabletop dice rolling, paper and pen Dungeons & Dragons adventure and you want the players character sheets on the computer which will be used during gameplay.

Either way, you want a character sheet that it's values can be updated and then the sheet can be saved as a bitmap image, right?

For this, design the sheet in MMF, filling a whole screen. Put in all the elements for the characters such as name, hit points, abilities, level, etc., etc., etc. Then have your players (or you) fill in the sheets and using the screen capture object you can capture an image and save it as a bitmap or some other graphic format. Save the data to a file such as an INI and all should be well.

While certainly possible, MMF might not be the perfect tool for the task. I think you might achieve that goal faster with an Office tool like Excel (or OpenOffice's Calc), which already brings printing functionality, templates, saving & loading files, calculating one field from another, etc.

thanks, for I wrote this in the wee hours of the night so probably didnt sound too clear.
    I had purchased software : http://www.battlegroundsgames.com/
but it didnt have a native character generator for making character sheets.. you could only import them in the bitmap format.

thank you for answering the questions I had.
