    Pixel Shader problem

    Hi, right now I'm trying to write a pixel shader that will change the hue to the luminosity, and the saturation and luminosity will then become 1, and the alpha is unaffected. I'm trying to get an effect like the star power in the Mario games.

    I can't get it to work just right (probably because I screwed up the syntax somewhere, I barely even know c++).

    If anyone has a spare moment, I would really appreciate if somebody would take a look at this, because I have no idea why it won't work.

    BTW, to convert to HSL, I was just following this.

    EDIT: Almost forgot to say that there is 1 parameter, the hue offset for after the color has been converted, so the rainbow colors will shift around.

    Re: Pixel Shader problem

    It's not that it's doing something wrong. It just does NOTHING at all! So I don't know if it's something wrong with the formulas, or if (more likely) its a syntax error.

    Is there any way to check where the syntax error is (if any)? For instance, could I use Bloodshed Dev c++?

    It isn't C++, it's HLSL.

    But will MMF2 report if a shader contain a syntax error?

    Yes, it will report an error if it cannot compile it.

    Re: Pixel Shader problem

    Wait... so is it like Java in that whenever you use a float number, you have to add an f onto the end? (i.e. 4.56f) THAT could be the problem.
