    MMF2 HWA Beta 2c

    Hi everyone,

    A new version (beta 2c) is available :

    Version Standard
    Version Developer
    TGF2


    Fixes and changes in this version

    - The Set Effect Parameter action was working only in Start of Frame conditions.
    - The alpha channel was ignored in the additive blending effect. Hopefully this fixes the bug reported by Bruto_Memo.
    - Active Picture object : black pixels no longer become transparent in created backdrops.
    - Active Picture object : the high quality mode is now selected when rotating an image.

    Just for info, what doesn't work or will be improved :

    - full screen (doesn't work).
    - transitions (don't work).
    - some graphical extensions don't work (Screen Capture, Lens, Viewport, Get Pixel, Flame, Alpha Channel, etc).
    - others work but are not optimized (text blitter, speech bubble, etc).
    - fine collisions between rotated or stretched sprites are slow.
    - the quick backdrop object in ellipse mode is slow.
    - there are still problems when you resize the frame window.
    - effects on layers will be optimized in a future version.
    - an option to prevent resampling when the "resize to fill screen" option is used will be added.
    - a few options are still missing in the effects, to read the background surface behind the objects.
    - the background behind dialog boxes is not correctly refreshed.

    Let me know if any specific issue in this build.

    I can't install this version.

    Says product not installed.

    I've managed to use the previous versions fine.

    Ignore me, wrong version .

    I accidentally grabbed standard instead of dev.

    Looks good. I'd like to report a small graphical glitch I picked up though.

    With Windows XP, and Windows Vista, we have Buttons with transparency in them. Granted you have "Enable Visual Themes" on.

    They look very nice.


    However, when you turn Hardware Acceleration on, the buttons lose this transparency and take on a nice little ugly white boarder around them. :whistle:


    Just throwing it out there for ya! Keep up the great work!

    PS: If you don't mind me asking. When can we expect to see Full-Screen added in? I mean I can completely understand if it's put off until the official release of Hardware Acceleration, for technical reasons... but if that's the case, I'd be nice to know.

    My intentions are not to rush you, but just squeeze some raw information out. :cool:

    I have a question too. Since the object's are being drawn onto the screen as planes, will we be able to rotate them in 3d space? (so you could get a cool looking skewing effect going).

    I don't think the button transparency bug can be fixed in any way without performance hits. (unless Yves finds a way to take over control of the drawing and draw to a surface instead of a window)

    Hey Yves, thanks! The alpha seems to be working fine with Additive blending! I got the solved additive blending issue with subtract now. I don't use this effect at all, but I though you'd like to know about it. I'll make some tests on another machine and make new tests to know if this can be reproduced!

    Friendly tip, the subtract in addition to an orange tint, makes an absolutely beautiful Night effect for games, because of how the orange tint inverts to Blue, and gives everything a stunning twist of colors. Give it a shot!

    Now you have something to use it for. :grin:

    LOL, thanks BrandonC. I meant I'm not currently not using this effect in my current projects, but didn't want to insinuate that it is useless to everyone :grin:

    Great job yves, I have a huge project and there are only a few bugs remaining due to the HWA betas
