I ran into a SUPER Game Factory 2 Glitch

I had GF2 for a few months and this happened.

I was working on my game which I spent weeks on. I constantly saved it because sometimes GF2 suddenly closes out. Recently while working on it, I saved and it came up with something I've never seen before.

    "Failed to save Document."

The document was already saved like 10 minutes ago so I thought no big deal. Then it came up with the error massage that it normally does after 1 or 2 hours of working. The same massage that closes out the program that came up ever since I got it.

"Game Factory 2 has encountered a problem and had to close. We are sorry for your..."

I thought, no big deal I'll load it again. So I closed out to load my game which I was spending weeks on a 'school project' (BIG GRADE) and when I went to open... IT WASN'T THERE!!!! I checked other files, still no! Please don't tell me my hard work and sweat went to COMPLETE WASTE! How is it possible for a entire document to delete itself! I am freaking out , how can I get my game back?!!

Is it my computer or the Game Factory program? Its not the only game factory thing I had problems with. I don't want to work with. (Like changing something on frame but doesn't change it in playing the game or the weird mouse control which forces me to restart my computer.) this program if it will get rid of every game that has MEANING!

    PLEASE REPLY SOON!

I am going to do a system recovery. Without that Game I've been working so hard on the rest of the stuff is pointless.

It's times like this, when the "Create backup" feature should be, but is often times not, used.

I thought about doing that some times. I didn't think I need to because it's a solid software. It's like Microsoft Word suddenly closes out on itself and deletes itself. It doesn't happen because its a good software. Because it never happens I thought this would never happen.

Could you post a list then please so that we add them to the todo list?

Jamie asks the good question, what build of TGF2 do you use? We release patches on a regular basis to fix bugs and add new features.

    Just another idea...

When TGF2 saves a file, it saves it first to a temporary file and then if everything is OK it deletes the original file and renames the temp file. I don't see why it would have crashed while renaming the temp file, but just in case... check if your directory contains a .MFC or .TMP file and if so, rename it to .MFA.

For one thing, it's collision system randomly times out...
For another thing, as above mentioned, TGF2 randomly quits after about 45 minutes of working...
Files sometimes are deleted, as above mentioned...

That is usually someone forgetting to make sure the colliding objects are in the same layer. I still do that sometimes. It happens to most people on actives created during runtime, because they forget to set which layer to create in.

Re: I ran into a SUPER Game Factory 2 Glitch

I have been using MMF2 since before it came out. It has never closed randomly after 45 minutes, the collision system always works fine and I have never had an MFA deleted (I use backups anyway).
