What's causing my game to slow down?

I have a fairly fast computer but occasionally the game jitters... what gives? Is it my computer or what am I doing wrong? I've tried changing machine independent speed, direct x options, etc., disabling the OGG music altogether, getting rid of semi transparent objects, it still lags.

    Will post mmf file soon.

I assume you aren't using hardware acceleration. It seems that you are simply using too many high resoluation images for MMF to handle. Try downloading the HWA beta and see if that fixes it.

HWA doesn't support the features I need. I need to have it fixed up by tomorrow.

Should I have as many objects as possible to be Load on Call, or as few? All of them would maybe mean there's only so many loaded at one, but having it on means they're being constantly loaded.

By look of it you have huge images for the levels and background, which makes it run slow as hell... ever heard of tiles? It would probably drastically increase the speed of your game!

Re: What's causing my game to slow down?

How should I implement them, though? If I simply split all the backgrounds up into 4 pieces would it run better? Even though there's still the same amount of actual information?

    Could someone elaborate a bit?

Odd, it just magically sped up. Not sure what's going on. Must be an issue with my laptop as it wasn't as bad on another(slightly slower) PC. Working better on my Laptop now too.

Laptops tend to perform a lot worse on battery power than on mains power. That's often the cause of magical "it's suddenly running ok".

Hah, that wasn't it, but I also did have that problem today, took me a while to realise it. I still don't know what was causing the slow down.
