    importing multiple frames

Is there any way of importing all the frames of an animation into the animation editor in one go,rather than individually like I am doing at present.

I don't quite understand... do you want to import an outside file into the animation editor, or transferring one animation sequence onto another?

If I understood correctly what you're after, you can try naming the files frame001, frame002 etc, it should be recognized by the importer automatically: once in the editor, go to the import (second icon in the top left corner) and select the first frame - afterwards just make sure you checked it as "import as animation".

    from a gif?

MMF can load animated gifs and will automatically create a new frame for each gif frame
