turn on LED lights from mmf app?

I want to be able to turn on one of three LED lights from a MMF2 app

the USB seems a likely place to do this since it has power, but this is a new request to me

any ideas on where to start something like this?

Maybe look at joystick stuff. Combined with the Joystick2 object, it might work.

I have a feeling USB may be a little tricky, I don't think anyone's ever coded (at least not released to the community) a USB extension interface.

It'll be an interesting subject to research, as I'm sure we'd all like to be able to crack open a spare USB cable, wire it up to something and watch it fwibble an' buzz or whatever we want it to do. But I think Serial Ports are your best bet for that.

USB, so far as I know, actually needs a data transfer routine from the device itself. You'd need a way to build an MMF application and have this considered by windows to be the default driver for your LED light.

Keep me posted on how it goes.

I believe there's some simple interfaces out there which let you build a circuit and control it from a serial port.

Yes, but wouldn't you need an object then to control input from the serial port?

    An ActiveX control would work.
