    Fireball / comet needed

What's the best way to do a fireball / comet effect?

EDIT: And, along with that, a smoke trail?

    Thanks!

Flame object will be perfect for it, but it's taking a lot of memory in MMF2 applications :/ After release of HWA, it'll be much better

The turret example someone did recently would be pretty cool if you changed it to smoke.

You're right, flame object does hog the memory... i really like the effect it produces but I can't slow my game down by 80% to get the effect.

I can't manage to get the turret example to work...

I really do wish the Flame Object didn't slow things down so much... does anyone have any other suggestions?

    Re: Fireball / comet needed

Whenever I make a smoke trail follow something, eg. following a ball in a bat-and-ball style game, I just make an animation of smoke starting big then getting smaller, then just make an event like:

Always| Create object(Smoke Trail) Relative to ( In the middle of whatever you want)

Then just do another conidtion saying that:

    Animation(Smoke Trail) has finished| Destroy

This way your smoke will follow whatever, and when it's animation is over it goes away. Also, if you don't want it to always follow the object just change it from "Always" to something like "Every .5 seconds" to delay it a bit. You could probably do the same with fire. Hope this helps!

    http://www.clickteam.com/epicenter/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1284#Post1284 has a GREAT FIREBALL!

I'm using it now, but the problem here is that I can only use it on one object at a time. Considering the number of flaming balls I want in my game, this presents a problem!
