New guy in business! help needed!

    Hi folks.

Finally i got some free time to work with multimedia fusion 2.

I have decided to make a "Defense type of game"
Seen from above, where you can place towers, canons etc..

After the placemetnt of towers etc, the first group of monsters will come, when you kill a monster you will gain an amount of gold.

I think most of you know what im planning and wanting to do.

But as said. This is my first time in MMF2
So any help/ideas in this topic would be greatly apreciated.

1.First of, would it be possible? or is it a task to big?
(i have the time to learn and develop)

    2.Are there any scripts/examples i can get/look at?

    3. did anyone acomplish this, before in MMF2?

    Anyway, ive done the tutorial, and made the basic setup for the game;
    Loading screen (with sound)
Menu (with play button and sound)
A big graphic pack i have made for the game.
    Music, Effects.

Anyway.. feel free to post any advice, help, ideas, examples, scripts. Anything will do.

And thanks for your time. MUCH appreciated.!

Some things i would like to work on, for a start:

Options (in the start menu) (Set resolution, sound volume)
Gui Area with Gold aMount and timer for next monsters arivals
Basic path, for monsters to follow in level.
    Buy tower, and placement
    towers automaticly shoot monsters.

    Thats it for now. :-)

1: Yes, it is possible. Not too big for the advanced user, but for a beginner I say it wouldn't be easy. There are some advanced techniques you would need to know beforehand.
Perhaps start make some minigames to get the feel of MMF2, then move on to some more advanced examples. Chech out the tutorial section (at the right of here).
Some things which you need to know about and how to use is:

    alterable values and flags
    global values
    ini and or array
    fastloops

    and probably also
custom CPU movement (not the built in path movement)

2: I don't know. If you don't find examples on a full game, check out the filearchieve for different techniques you can use in your game.

3: Tiles made The Lost Castle which is a great Defend the tower game.

In general I like to divide complicated things into smaller pieces. I think this would help you achieve your goal.

You could also make your "learning time" contribute to your larger vision- why not have your mini games make up some of a bigger experience?

instead of thinking of one giant game where everything happens, think of a sequence of chapters and each chapter is played out in a frame. Then have your 'lessons' will add up to your longer overall project.

alternatively, I often work out behaviors or other individual parts of my apps in a separate 'Test app' and drop those into my final project.

For instance you could work on your various monster's behaviors, or any of the items you listed, in individual apps, then copy those to your project.

    Hi Dave.

    Thats actually a great idea.
I do also have a test project, where i test and make everything. And if it works, then im using it in the real game project.

I think you right about starting to make some smaller games, but ive allready made a couple. and are really learning fast. i only used mmf2 in two days. and i know all the basics, and so..

But when i get to the more advanced parts, like scripting and so. It dosnt help me much to make small games/projects. ive tried most of the tutorials. But they seem a little basic?
i mean offcource theres some hard areas to, and some learning.

But the features/tutorials im looking for is just not there.

So im trying out myself, with alot of help in the forum from you guys.
    hehe

ps.I also think its a great idea with a test app. :-)
