    [Request] Enhanced Rope/Swing Extension

    As I'm not that handy with the old mathematics, I would like to see a swing object that acts more like a rope and curves at the end and is less rigid when swinging.

    Also what would be great is to alter the length of the rope at runtime.

    A third feature I would like to see is the rope collide with objects mid way so that the remainder of the rope swings under.

    The existing platform swing object is great and I use it often but I would be very happy if it were updated with the above features.

    I really think we could use new a set of objects that works together; an invisible platform movement object with a built in collision mask (rather than having to use a separate active object for that) that you can attach active objects to, moving platforms that the player can stand on and move with, and yeah, why not, an enhanced rope swing object?

    I know a custom movement can be built in the event editor, but our new uesrs could greatly benefit from an easier option, if it can be kept simple enough to use.

    I wish I had more money to spend on extensions now, otherwise I'd hire someone.

    A new type of Platform movement that easily interfaces with swings and moving platforms would be very welcome. Maybe a platform movement that can handle more than one player, for AI and such.

    The mathematics I used to create this object would not allow for such complex interactions. Your best bet would be to do something with the physics extension.

    why?... i have made custom movments that appear to work similarly to the playform swing, and i had no problems inplimenting the above features, obviously an extension and a custom engine aren't quite the same; but i'm sure it's possable :grin:

    vortex2: I guess it all depends what level of realism the new swing should have. I'm personally not thinking anything near the realism a physics engine provides. Just because you want the rope to bend a little doesn't mean that the swing has to react to other collision masks, rotate, or behave that realistic.
