    Qualifiers

    I have blocks scattered around my game which are Group.1 qualifiers.

    If any player character goes near any of them the player character should scale up.

    Problem: It is only the last block created which actually scales the character The others seemingly are now not part of the qualifying group. Any ideas?

    Cheers
    Simon

    Hmmm..is the x,y of a group of qualifiers just the x, y of the last one placed perhaps, rather than an array of each individual objects x and y?

    I have the same group colliding and reacting well with another group (bad guys) so the qualifiers themselves must be working..but of course 'on collide' doesnt need an x or y co-ord?

    Simon,

    I think this is where you should use spread value to isolate every member of the group . then loop on those to scale the right element .

    I dont remember the details of this but many persons here use it almost everyday.

    What does the scaling event look like?

    What's the spread value its the first I heard of this.

    Werbad...I was doing a simple distance check and then scaling the object if it was in range...as that didnt work Ive now resorted to a collision event which seems to work better.

    Re: Qualifiers

    You can try splitting the distance check into 2 parts. Doing a single line distance check will only check one of the involved objects. You can try using something like:

    * Always
    > Group.1 Set Alterable Value A to Distance()

    * Group.1 Alterable Value A < Target Distance
    > Scale

    Note that this only works if there is one target(player), if you have multiple targets you need to spread values.

    Cool. It sounds like I need to spread values though as I have 4 player characters and many blocks. How do I go about spreading values..is this something within the calculator?..or an extension?

    Re: Qualifiers

    Found it dont worry..Cheers

    "Spread value
    This action is quite powerful and allows you to spread numbers in an alterable value of multiple instances of an object. Imagine you have 10 instances of an object called "Ball". If you spread a value in Alterable Value A of the Ball object, starting at 1, the first object will have the value 1, the second the value 2, the third 3 etc. up to 10. "
