    Bouncing ball?

    Hello.

I'm trying to make a ball bounce like in the game Bubble Struggle 2: Rebubbled (www.rebubbled.com).

I've choosed the Pinball movement type, set gravity and speed to 25 and set initial direction to: -0,16.

But after some time it stop bouncing around and sometimes it changes the direction before it hit the left and right walls.

The Event condition I've made is: when Ball leaves the play area, then Bounce.

But as I said, it doesn't bounce as I want it to be. I want it to be like Bubble Struggle 2: Rebubbled.

    Can anyone help me?

    Re: Bouncing ball?

The only real use for Pinball movement, and this is just my opinion, and for the most part it doesn't work right anyway, but is slope detection. Seeing as you wont need slopes in this game, heres the best way I found to do movement like this.

    Always
Set Ball X to X of Ball + Alterable Value A
Set Ball Y to Y of Ball + Alterable Value B

    Always
Add 1 to Alterable Value B

    If Ball Collides with Ground
Set Alterable Value B to 16 (Or however high you want.)

    Start of Frame
    Set Alterable Value A to Random ( 8 ) - 4

    If Ball Collides with Wall
Set Alterable Value A to Alterable Value A * -1

Hmm I can't get it to work, I made a new application and added what you said to a Pinball, but it just passes through the ground :S

    Re: Bouncing ball?

    no, it's a custom movement.

Edit: I just realized you were using the pinball movement, so yes, you do make it bounce.

This will not work very well visually. For instance if the ball starts at the top of the frame and falls to the bottom, Alterable Value B might be something like 5. The ball will skip up to 5 pixels past the top of the wall and land inside it.

    Re: Bouncing ball?

What does the Alterable Value (a letter) actually mean?

    Re: Bouncing ball?

Each active object (and many other objects) contain alterable values. These are basically a set of numbers assigned to that unique object. So if you set Value A to 3 at the start of a level, then subtracted 1 from that each time you shoot at the object. Then when Value A = 0 you can destroy it. The object will take three hits to destroy.

You can access them through the even editor and the object properties.

    Re: Bouncing ball?

But how does the Alterable Values work do with the Pinball project I'm trying to make? The ball is not supposed to get destroyed, so why use Alterable Values?
