Thanks, and pardon my slowness on this. I think I'm starting to get it. So I do need to upgrade to developer in order to do what I need to do? You and Chipset mentioned java aplets that can run in the browser. I'm not sure what that means, but would that solve my problem of the game not running on a Mac the way it is now? Or should I just upgrade to developer? Once I upgrade, where on the menu would I find the application properties?

I actually was a bit scared that this was going to be some kind of a flame war topic, a fight between Mac users and PC users, they all usually start with the "Mac VS PC, which one is better?" question.Good to see that it's a topic about compatibility.
Guess I've been spending too much time on hardware forums lately, expecting the worst from every little innocent question.
My friend's got a Mac but he never complained about not being able to play those little MMF2 games I've sent him. I'm guessing he's using WINE. If you're thinking about using JAVA, remember to check whether all plugins you use are compatible, I remember having a small problem with the first JAVA-Beta version release. I guess it was resolved later on, never really checked.
Well, you could always try out Mel's new tool that will be coming out soon-ish. This might help you get your games to run on a Mac without having to upgrade to developer.

How I wish there were a MMF2 type of app for the mac...!
I'm cutting my teeth on scripting by trying to learn Cocoa and Xcode just to do the same stuff I'm doing on the PC... but for mac.
Clickteam's got the best "dummy" development software. Period.
This might really be what I need. Would it convert a game I've already designed to something that would work on a mac? Has it come out yet? Would a 52 year old piano teacher who has just basically fumbled her way into this business be able to use it?

Hi Coco and everyone,
I downloaded the latest beta version of MMF2 (NOT developer) and then used Melli's Immunity Xwrap on it, but it didn't work on a Mac and Melli said it was because:
"It looks like you are using incompatible audio .. Again, that is an MMF issue.
You also seem to be using some MMF objects that have not yet been converted for Java. Only the basic objects have been converted right now such as Active Object, background object, quick background object, counters, etc.
If you notice, the java file doesn't play correctly on Windows either which is an indication that the Java file MMF has created is incomplete .. I'm afraid in your situation you have only a few options:
a) replace incompatible audio and MMF objects to make your game compatible with the current implementation.
b) wait for the Java runtime to be finished by Clickteam. Hopefully it will be soon but they haven't released a definite date yet .."
Does anyone know whether I can get this to work on a Mac by upgrading to Developer? Would I still have to wait for Clickteam to release the new Java runtime?
Kathleen

In the past on Linux I used Wine to run MMF2 apps. It ran fine.
They do have version for Mac on the sourceforge.org or you could use commerical version like Crossover Mac.
I did fine that the app runs slower but the commerical version may solve that so what. I have not tested.
Mac also has the ability to run Windows within OS 10 but I am unsure of what OS you are using. You could do a dual boot.
Thanks for your reply. Is Wine or Crossover Mac something I could use with the game on my PC which would enable me to burn a disc of the game that would run on a Mac?
I don't have a Mac, but I have several people wanting the game who have Macs.

Most MMF2 software runtime games run perfectly in Darwine on my Mac. It basically interprets exe files so you don't "create" a Mac app with it.
The nicest way to present your game to the Mac audience would be with Java + Xwrap, but the Java runtime will always be limited even in the final version I imagine - you'll probably just have to stick to restrictions or tell the people who want it that it should run in Darwine.
