Clicking only 1 object while overlaps happen?

I'm building an app where there are multiple copies of the same object moving around the screen. The idea is that I want the user to be able to use a mouse-controlled click hand to select the item. When it clicks, I want only the blue object at the finger tip.

The problem is that if that object happens to be overlapping another (even though that one might not be as visible to the user) the program selects both. As you see in the above example, even though it's clear to the user which one to click MMF thinks they are pointed at 2 objects. How do I make it so that it only selects one, and only the one that is "visible" to the hand (i.e. not one covered underneath it.)?

I Dont know if you have tried this yet or if it is what you are doing but

[color:#FF0000]IF [color:#3366FF]Mouse is overlapping [color:#3366FF]blue
[color:#33CC00]AND
[color:#FF0000]IF [color:#CC0000](NEGATE) [color:#3366FF]blue is overlapping [color:#3366FF]blue

[color:#FF6600]THEN Set position of [color:#3366FF]blue to Xmouse & Ymouse

P.S. The colors are to help understand what is what

if you need it to select the frontmost object, you can use the select object extension

User clicks on "Object"
+ Select Object Extension: Select Frontmost("Object")
--> [your events here]

Where exactly do I look for the "select frontmost" command?

I know what to do:

User clicks on ("Active")
+Pick one of ("Active") at random.
-Do what you want.

Good luck.
So "Select Object" is an additional extension I need to acquire in order to implement this functionality?

Is the version of the select object on fusion updater up-to-date? The newest version is v0.09 beta 2: http://clickteam.com/epicenter/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Board=17&Number=16564

You don't need an extension for that. It's much easier. Use an counter or a Alterable / Global Value. Set its value to the fixed value of the object under the mouse. And voila, you have isolated one object by its fixed value. Which can be used for further needs

- Mouse over Object -> set counter to fixed value of Object
- User clicks at Object + fixed value of Object is equal counter -> do what you need to do

I'm confused how this would work. Assume that the blue sphere objects in the example are moving. If I mouse over two overlapping objects, shouldn't the counter be activated by both? i.e. both objects will be detected on mouse over, even though one is above the other visually.

That's the trick. The counter can just store one value. And that's why you just select one object then

Try it. Is not this complicated
