    Cut Scenes

Yeah, ive been makin alot of threads latley but i digress.
need a method of making cut scenes in MMF. I thought about making a bounceball movemnt or pinball movment for gravity if the cutscenes require any action.

    please weigh in your knowledge.

    Re: Cut Scenes

you would have to use the timer to make accurate cutscene animations from within MMF. Look at Knytt. It has a cutscene-like intro.

If you want to be lazy, however, just make the animation in another program (such as photoshop) and just import the animation into an active object. Then, add sound (which is better without lip synching, because of timing).

    Re: Cut Scenes

Since you are being vague it is difficult to answer your question. How complex are you going to make your cutscenes? If you want to make something like the intro to Donkey kong, you need to code the movements and probably should use a timer (as was mentioned)or an alterable value to mainain a timeline. Then you can tell different actions to fire based on the timeline's value.

Is there a specific thing you are trying to do in a cutscene?

    Re: Cut Scenes

not too specific, im making a platformer so probabbly just things as on like before the boss the confrontation, before the actuall game a little cutscene intead of just lame text. Just the characters walking around, and punching and flying and getting hurt and talking. That sort of thing. Like a cutscene from some 32-bit platfromer.

In that case, it sounds like you just need to handle the situations as they arrise. That is part of the fun of making a game. I don't think there is a "best" method to making your objects move around. Good luck.

    Re: Cut Scenes

I use timers for non-movie cutscenes too but I use custom movements instead of built-in ones.

Just having static Pictures and Texts can also be good can be good for cutscenes.

Yes the game Fable for the Xbox just had static pictures and that looked pretty good.
