No, you don't have to use midi.

The most common choice in MMF2 is to convert it to an ogg file, which is possible (wma to midi is impossible, completely different type of file. A free audio editor such as Audacity can do this for you.

Remember, you play .ogg files through the "play sample" option, not the "play music" option.

First thing, you should avoid making an entire post in all color, because, depending on the forum skin a user's using, the text might not show up that clearly.

Also, for the record, no audio types can be converted to .midi files. MIDI files are really only data files that contain notes that should be mapped to a certain sound in-game, and cannot hold real audio.

And Also, I don't think you can convert .wma's in Audacity. Instead, you might want to try DBpoweramp, I believe it might be able to convert those to .ogg's (I don't think you can convert a protected .wma file, though).

I'm going to be really turdy and annoying and say that technically sound clips can be converted to midi, although the only said softwares available to the public do such a crappy job of it that it's considered not possible.

Yea converting anything to .mid isn't worth it, some old dos game musics .imf, were converted to .mid and after that they sound awful but they sound way better as .imf or in game, so really never convert anything .mid, ogg vorbis really is the best music format at the time being.

You can't convert wma files to mid in any reasonable manner. They are two different types of formats. It's like trying to convert a jpeg into an avi.
