Any chance to see a Vitalize plug-in for iPhone/iPod Touch ?

    Re: iPhone Player

I think a better chance of:
1 - Java or Java mobile being supported by Apple

2 - A native runtime for the products that run on the iphone

I think the Vitalize plug in is too heavy for mobile devices.

    No chance :
1 - Java currently not planned
2 - Licence forbid app that launch other app

A specific app that run online app was the only workaround.

    Re: iPhone Player

Impossible due to Apple's licensing - It makes it illegal to make a Java VM for the iPhone. (Vitalize too)
It forbid any software that can run external code. (Therefore you can't have emulators, Virtual Machines and 3rd-party Web Browsers on the iPhone)

    Re: iPhone Player

If Clickteam makes an iphone runtime at some point doesn't this fix the problem? Not sure why number 2 is getting marked off above....

    Re: iPhone Player

The licensing of the iPhone forbids anything like Java, Flash, Vitalize or any other runtime for the iPhone because it forbids any application that runs external code. Therefore non-Apple browsers won't make it to the iPhone (They run Javascript code), or Java VMs (They run Java code). So the problem is pretty much legal and no technical. If the iPhone had a Java VM I don't think it would be too difference from other phones (Other than the fact that it's touch-screen based).

So unless Clickteam gets in touch with Apple and somehow convince them to allow them to port Vitalize to the iPhone I don't see it happening.

I am talking about a native iPhone runtime but who knows if it will be possible as we have not looked into Apples requirements yet.

    Re: iPhone Player

native runtime is not possible...Executables must be digitally signed by developer AND Apple to include DRM.

GarageGames' "Torque" engine has an iphone development path...Is it really impossible that ClickTeam could do the same????

    Re: iPhone Player

Clickteam never said it was impossible, but yes there are many things to look into concerning Apple and its DRM.

But check out the prices on it at Garage Games ... pretty expensive to use.
