    Array problem

I'm using the array extension for my Game.

My Array has the exactly dimensions of 2500x2500x3 and is a numeric array, it works fine within the application, but when I try to save, it seems to big and gets a file size around 70MB.

There's a way of not getting this file size? Or some ext that works in that way?

    Re: Array problem

That's exactly the size I'd expect for an 18 million element array of 4-byte numbers.

You could try compressing it in some way, or find a way to not need a 2500x2500x3 sized array...

    Re: Array problem

If you do the math, 2500 x 2500 x 3 = 18,750,000, and since each number in the array is 4 bytes long that equals 75,000,000 bytes, which is just over 71 megabytes.

You could use niffzip or something to compress your array file into a zip file after you save it then delete the uncompressed array file. Then when you want to load it back up again, you would then unzip it to a temporary file, load it back into the array object then delete the temporary file when you're done with it.

What are you making that would require you to store 18.75 million values? I am just curious.
