I ran into an installer created with Install Creator Pro the other day and while I initially saw no problem with it, other forum users were reporting that their virus scanners were having a field day with it.
Turns out I was checking the installed files rather than the installer itself. Silly me. Long story short, I checked out the Install Creator Pro trial and made myself an installer than I am sure contains no suspicious material added by myself.
Simply an ICP installer that installs a clean gif file. The "bad" installer from the mentioned forum tripped 9/36 virus scanners on VirusTotal.com, as well as BitDefender on my own computer. My test file was detected by 8/36 as suspicious on VT, but not by BitDefender on my own computer.
That's quite a few programs to get false positives on. Do you have any reassuring comments / official stance about what's going on? While I think it's just that - false positives - other people are a little more untrusting, it seems.
I'll include the analysis of my test installer from VT.
