    Keep connection between frames

I didn't find information about this, and no post for feature requests, so I'm asking for it here :

Is it possible to have OINC client keep connection between frames ? I know it didn't work in MooClick, but i'd love to see this in OINC.

Also, quick non-related question : Is there actually any Server-side OINC extension ? When should it be available ? (even in beta/alpha)

    Re: Keep connection between frames

I don't think it will be able to keep between frames, I just can't think of a method how'd that be possible - global objects maybe, I don't know. You could use a subapp though, that's what most of the people did I guess.
There will be a server extension, I don't know when the aquadas will release it, though. Mind that MMF is too slow for good serving anyway, so a python or c++ server would be much more appreciated if you do not need to monitor anything (without programming something in py/c++)

    Re: Keep connection between frames

I will definitely do that for a future release.

I'm still thinking about the server side extension. MMF2's single threaded nature would limit things a lot, let alone the actual event processing. It's probably not worth the effort; it's easier to just use a generic server, or if you need customization, POINC with a nice tutorial.

    Re: Keep connection between frames

I really wish we could have a server extension in MMF, most serious games will need a custom server, and most people here don't know other languages.

I'll probably stick to Moo if I can't make a server app in MMF with OINC.

    Thanks for the answers !

    Re: Keep connection between frames

The problem is a server for any "serious" game would choke MMF anyway.

It would be pretty easy to follow a tutorial on customizing your own POINC or even OINC server.

    Re: Keep connection between frames

The way I keep the connection between frames is global values. Upon exiting a frame, set your player name, ID, and channel to global values so that you can reconnect on the next frame.
