    New to MMF2 -- questions!

    Hello!

I am new to the forums and MMF2. I have already created a few games with this great program (small Arkanoid / breakout type games, etc) and I want to create something more complex. I'm a 2D graphic artist and animator, so that part is covered.

    My questions:

1# I want to create a side-scrolling beat 'em up like Double Dragon, but I can't seem to figure out how to make the screen scroll. I was hoping someone could explain this; I'm at a loss!

#2 I have seen beat 'em ups made with MMF2 on Youtube, but I wasn't sure how you add additional attacks. For example: punch (1 attack) and kicking (second attack).

#3 I've seen MMF2 games where the enemies display some form of AI (they react to the player's attacks) but I am not clear on how this is done. I know how to create pre-determined paths, though.

I hope I don't annoy anyone with these questions! I'm still learning this program, and I was hoping someone with a bit more experience could help answer these questions for me.

    Thank you in advance!

    (Slaps head)

I found a really good example on the forums that explains scrolling so my first question has been answered.

...but if anyone could explain my last two questions I'd really appreciate it.

1# If you do a search, I'm sure you'll find many examples on scrolling.

2# If I remember correctly, the following platform engine has a combo system and scrolling. After a little tweaking, it should be ideal for the type of game you intend to make.

3# One good way to create AI is to use invisible sprites. When the enemy -or when the main character- collides with the invisible sprite, get the enemy to do something different than its default movement.

I'm not that skilled myself as yet, but I'm sure the above may help - it certainly helped me when I was new to MMF.

    I appreciate the response!

I found information on scrolling right after postnig this thread.

I never would have consider using invisible sprites; nice technique! I'll give it a try and find out what happens. Thanks for the link; it's a good starting point!
