    Path Movement Errors?

I have a boss that comes in from the top of the screen via multi-node path when all the regular enemies are dead. No problem.

He hits an invisible object, plays his "laugh" animation, and then when that animation is over he starts another separate movement - a rectangular path around the screen. Still no problem.

But when he hits the first node (which is also just past the edge of the screen), he just stops. I have no idea why. I didn't tell him to do anything when he hits the edge or a wall, and when I do "try movement" it works just fine...? What gives?

So close to being able to turn this thing in for a project...

Well, I tried telling it to always keep his speed at a certain level, and that worked. But now when it does a different path movement it just goes into the direction of the first node and keeps going....?

I know it's asking the obvious but just to make sure it's not the most obvious mistake - the node that makes him stop (the first post) doesn't have anything like set it's speed to 0 or something?

Unfortunately the paths don't really make it obvious so you have to actually click on it to see the speed of a certain node...

did you select reverse at end and loop movement?

I had that problem once and selecting those again made it work for some odd reason.

That's good to know, but it doesn't seem to be the trouble.

The same thing seems to happen when I make the movement in question any other type - I tried making it a pinball movement. So maybe it's something else about how I've made it go?

For now he just doesn't move when he dies, and that works well enough. But I'd like to be able to know how to do similar things in the future.

evilpants - no, that din't work either.

    Re: Path Movement Errors?

I used path movements extensively and never bumped into anything similar... can you upload a file so we can take a look? If possible, please do it on some file sharing website and post a link here, I hate it when I have to go to the file archive and hunt stuff there...

Edit: but yes, if that's what happens even if you change the movement type than it's probably a case of "forgottedus eventicus" ;-)

Can you send us the level? I've had some similar problems with the path movement in the past, and I was able to (somehow) fix them.

Or, do you have the repeat movement box checked? Have it so it repositions the object at the end (With the reposition object at beginning button, duh!) and select the loop movement button. that should work!
