This was first suggested by, of all people, dragonguy, and I would just bump his thread if it hadn't gone very off topic.
I've been writing a Python server, and when a player is initialized on the server, the ID of the player and the string "init" is sent to each player. Now, I need a way of distinguishing whether the ID being sent is the ID belonging to that the player or belonging to a peer, hence a get self ID. If it belongs to the player who joined the game, then they are accepted onto the server and their own player object is created, and if it belongs to a peer, then a peer object is created.
I could have a work around where the server sends the player name instead of the player ID, but I'd rather send an Int rather than a String.
I hope this post is clear, "get Self ID" is very much needed.
