Finding other computers on a network.

This example determines the host names and Ip's of computers on a local network.

Allows for multiplayer gaming without requiring the host's IP Address.

It's able to get the names of the other computers on the network, but it doesn't get the ip addresses. The list stays empty.

Re: Finding other computers on a network.

Unfortunately DHCP Doesn't allow some certain clients to access certain other clients (unless static routes and hosts are applied), this issue is so deeply rooted that even commercial! games (such as WC3) haven't over come it.

To see it working correctly you will need to re-setup your network with; the same work groups across all machines and computer dependent host names (which you should really do anyway :grin.

*LB; This probably won't work under vista, what os are YOU! using?

Well WC3 works fine for me (and my computer is setup to use a static IP address, which is what you were talking about right?)

I do have it setup like that.

    And I'm using vista.

*LazyCoder, Perhaps ill make a vista version in the future.

*LB_, The issue is probably caused by tracert; try deleting the group 'Determining IP address', if it no longer freezes then undelete (re-load or undo) and try leaving it running for a while.

...And thank you both for the debuging help.

Pipe object shouldn't have been used in the first place - it was replaced by the much more stable and optimised Console object. I'm not sure where you can get it - I haven't even got it myself.

I have it, it was one of the old extension list pages, I don't think it's online anymore. I'm not sure if it's allowed to upload it but if it is I will.
