Dash by double tapping a key

    Hi,

I've read the posts dealing with how to get a dash to work using a variable as a counter. Sadly, this doesn't work for me because I have custom movement code that works like this:

+Repeat while "right arrow" is pressed
    +(negate) player is overlapping active(boundary)
    - Set player(X position) to player(X position) + HorizontalSpeed
    - Set DashTimer to 10

I was going to add dash code like this:

    +Upon pressing "right arrow"
    +DashTimer > 0
    -Set HorizontalSpeed to 8

    +DashTimer > 0
    - Sub 1 from DashTimer

What I really want is to have to double press the right or left arrows and then hold the second press to get a dash.

Can someone offer a way to do this?

    Thanks in advance,

    Mobichan

You could do something like this:

    +Upon pressing "Right Arrow"
    +Dash Timer > 0
    -Set Flag 1 on

    +Flag 1 is on
    -Set Horizontalspeed to 8

+(Negate)Repeat while "Right Arrow" is pressed
    -Set flag 1 off

    +Flag 1 is off
-Set Horizontalspeed to whatever your slow speed is

I'm pretty sure that would work

Thanks for the advice. I actually refactored a lot of my code so that every input and possible move the player can do is linked to a flag. That way I can test against the flags. It seems to be working pretty well so far. Hopefully I can upload a demo soon.
