Creating life bars for enemies / boss characters

I can't seem to figure out how to create life bars for my enemy / boss sprites. Any help you can offer would be appreciated!

Get the Interface Bar Extension and look at it's examples.

You can also do your own based on counters, lives, values, or score. Make you life bar in the picture editor with different directions, then if score=whatever, set the direction of the life bar to the direction matching the health of the enemy.

You can set the life bar to the enemy with an always event, setting it to maybe above the head.

Re: Creating life bars for enemies / boss characte

This solution might be too complicated for your needs, but here goes:

If you have multiple duplicates of the same enemy on the screen at the same time, you will want to use active objects for the life bar, have one life bar created for each enemy, and then set an alterable value of the life bar to be equal to the fixed value of the enemy. Then you can test for Alterable of Life Bar == Fixed of Enemy and have the life bar set at a position relative to the enemy's head. You can also use another alterable value of the enemy for the actual life value and have the life bar set to that value on the same line.

Basically, you would be treating the life bar like the body part of an enemy is in this tutorial.

Re: Creating life bars for enemies / boss characte

i also know of a way

lets say ur enemy's hp is 20

    then make make 20 20x1 bars(any color u wish)

lets also say that ur person does 1 damage each time it hits the enemy

u could set the events like this

If (player) collides with (enemy): make bar invisible

and if all of the bars are invisible or if the hp = 0
then u have killed the boss

Angelfox - whiles't your idea is very inventive, it's massively resource hungry!! Particularly if you have more than a few characters.

Would suggest you adopt a different method, such as using a counter - or perhaps an active object with different directions which represent different values - then adjust it accordingly.
