re: How to achieve this blur effect

Anyone know how to create a 'blur' effect like in this game:

(The blur coming from the ship and/or green bad guys)?

Re: re: How to achieve this blur effect

Very easy, just create an exhaust or blur object i.e. a fuzzy circle, behind your ship (or whatever you want) and then have it immediately start fading out.

    Example:

Every 0.1 sec- create blur particle at the location of the ship

Always- add 1 to semi-transparency of the blur particle (makes it fade out automatically once created)

When semi-transparency= 128, destroy blur particle

You could also replace the semi-transparency code with simply destroying upon creation, and add a 'fade out' transition to the object

Ok, thanks, that's what I did in the past for one of my games, I was wondering if there was a different way of doing it rather then using an active object.

(take a look at the green missles the bad guys shoot at ya...)

    Can you take a peek:

    http://augworld.com/scraps/blur.mfa

It looks like it isn't deleting the trail until it maxes out at 500 objects (the default max of the frame)

After it hits the max, THEN it delets them ALL, and starts over...

    Any ideas?

Do you need to spread value or something?

Here, I made it for you
Oh, and I wouldn't recommend using the eight directions movement.
You can shorten the tail by changing how much is added to the "Alterable Value A".

    Here is the file!
