    The next XLua release will contain a built-in editor and support for multiple embedded scripts, in addition to loading embedded scripts directly and thus avoiding load string limitations.

    Sounds great, just wondering will this have lua code highlighting? If it's not already there being able to modify the embedded scripts/editor content at runtime would be great.

    That would allow for dynamic Lua code more easily which would be great so you have something like -

    Dropdown list:

    On choice 01 - Load script 01, run
    On choice 02 - Load script 02, run
    On choice 03 - Load script 03, run

    or another example with various things happening -

    If Active 01 is clicked -

    Select from character 20 to 40 (Script 01)
    Replace selection with (String 01)
    Re-load script

    If Active 02 is clicked -

    Select from character 20 to 40 (Script 01)
    Replace selection with (String 02)
    Re-load script

    If Active 03 is clicked -

    Change current script to (Script 02)
    Run script

    If Active 04 is clicked -

    Change current script to (external - C:\Scripts\script03.txt)
    Run script

    etc so you can make the running of scripts interactive and easy to use various outside methods of loading code to run. Im guessing this is the plan already but just to make sure.

    Note the URL change. Back up your current projects before attempting to use this beta release. There have been major changes to the edittime internal structure and it's not out of the realm of possibility that you could lose an embedded script or even have to replace the object. However it should quietly update your projects as you load them.

    This release introduces a Scintilla-based editor to the object, as well as an unlimited number of embedded scripts. A new action has been added for directly running an embedded script, so this should circumvent any string limit problems. Please ignore the "Included Libraries" list in the setup dialog, at this time it does nothing and I haven't decided for sure how I'm going to use it.

    Let me know if there's any problems with the editor. Right now the edges are pretty rough, but it should get polished out over the next couple beta releases. For now I'm just aiming for stability.

    There's been some other back-end changes in preparation for support for pushing tables from MMF to Lua, so it's possible other problems were introduced along the way to the otherwise stable call stack.

    Seems to be nice update, but - The example interpreter.mfa crashes when loading.
    (The others probably do too, but I'm missing extensions due to a recent reinstallation of MMF)

    EDIT: Renaming an embedded script does not work. The editor is impressive and comes in very handy, though!

    well I'll have to fix whatever's crashing them. I tried a bunch of old test files but not that one. Like I said, beta quality material here

    Edit: interperter.mfa isn't crashing for me :|

    Did you load the file to test it earlier?
    I've just tested an old XLua file, and it works fine. At least it doesn't crash.
    Maybe interpreter.mfa's edit data version is somewhere between the old and the new one, and it MMF fails to update it because you made some changes to the code? Of course, I can't really say anything about this.

    This update should fix the random crashing during opening. I wasn't handling things correctly in the update routine for the much older files.

    One more quick fix. I did in fact break the call stack, it should now be in working again. HOPEFULLY that's the last of the critical bugs.
