ICP - Open a folder directory containing files?

    Hi,

I know its easy to open a certain file once you exit your created installer. Is it possible to open a folder directory containing files instead, of so how? Thanks in advance,

You could install and run a .bat file that contains the following command :

    start "pathname_of_your_folder"

Re: ICP - Open a folder directory containing files?

Ah. How do I do that; I'm assuming in notepad then save it as a ".bat" file ... run that at the end of the installation.

    If the folder is located:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\PS MSTS STUFF

What would the code be for that? Would it defiantly have to be that folder location? i.e. what happens if a user has it installed on a different drive letter to C?

    Thanks again

Re: ICP - Open a folder directory containing files?

Yes just create a file with notepad.

I made a little mistake in the command, you should use :

start "" explorer "your path name"

If the directory is a sub-directory of your install directory, then write this command in the .bat file :

    start "" explorer %1

and then in ICP select the .bat file and enter "#InstallDir#\yoursubdir" in the "command line options" box in the View/Run tab.

%1 will be replaced by the the value of the first parameter passed to the .bat file.

Re: ICP - Open a folder directory containing files?

I got it working for the path. Outside of ICP.

    Confirm this for me:

    My sub directory is:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\PS MSTS Stuff\Graphic Settings

    Which contains two jpeg files.

Main directory being installed to is: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator

So I simple add the bat file (containing only {start "" explorer %1}) to the main installer and in ICP (in view/run) I put "#InstallDir#\PS MSTS Stuff\Graphic Settings"

    Correct?

Re: ICP - Open a folder directory containing files?

    Thank you

PS: Is there a way in ICP to position the installer window, say in the bottom right corner rather than dead center? i.e. The window obstructs the image in the background when centered. Tried positioning my image differently without success.

Re: ICP - Open a folder directory containing files?

    Hi Yves,

I tested this just now and it isn't working so need a little help:

Error prompted with = The Path 'C:\Program' does not exist or is not a directory. (I then press ok and nothing happens as expected).

Folder with the tow jpeg images has changed to:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\PS MSTS Stuff\ANG001 Graphic Settings

The bat file is installed into the same directory as the jpeg images.

The bat file currently has the following code:

    start "" explorer %1

Within ICP on the bat file I have selected 'Run ... when installer exits' with command line = #InstallDir#\PS MSTS Stuff\ANG001 Graphic Settings. The bat file also has the option 'Wait for end before continuing the installation' ticked.

At the end of the installation I also run another .exe set to run when installer exits, yet the option 'wait for ..' is not ticked.

I prefer that the bat file runs last but unsure on how to achieve this (including in the last .exe is not an option). Seems to work ok like what I have set for now; except for the above error of course.

Where have I gone wrong? Thanks in advance.
