    zelda engine

    okay, i'm basically trying to recreate the same engine as ocarina of time. but i have limited knoweledge so i need help.

    my first question is how do i create the screen where you input your name and such. any help is appreciated dearly!

    Hmm - you're asking quite a lot if you want the community to describe an entire Zelda engine for you...

    Nonetheless, to create your first screen, you could just have an edit box for the name.

    To be honest, if you have to ask how to do a starting screen, you will find the engine very challenging. Maybe you should start with the engine - or better still, just attempt much smaller projects first.

    There's no shame in making simple games - but if you start off with massive projects, you'll quickly tire of it, and it will put you off game making pretty sharpish.

    You will not be able to make a 3d game using MMF2, if that's what you are aiming for.

    You could recreate the engine from link to the past though.

    Yeah MMF is a 2D game creation tool. Now, of course there are things like the OpenGL object, but I have no experience with that, and even still, I'd imagine it would be quite a task to create an Ocarina of Time engine using the OpenGL object if it can be done.

    Ah yes - good point, Ocarina is a 3d engine... not 2d

    So there's the first stumbling block - and it's quite a large one to clamber over!

    well i meant ocarina of time in a 2d format.
    i do realize it's a lot, but i'm trying to take it step by step. i really don't want to recreate an entire engine, just certain aspects.
