    Mouse Control and mouse cursor

Hi, I'm new new to MMF 2.
I'm trying to create a simple game - pick upan object and drop it.
I have the game set working how I want, but the issue I have is the mouse cursor.
I have an object set to Xmouse and Ymouse, this is my cursor. But how do I restrict the area of the cursor movement. I want to make the cursor only move in the lower half of the screen.
If I set the object to be be mouse controlled (in the object properties) then I can set the movement area, but I can't pick up and move object like I did with the xmouse ymouse method.

Also is there a way to over ride the mouse movement. I want to get it so the player clicks on an object and then the mouse and the cursor object moves to a different area of the screen.

Any examples would be of great help.

    Hope you can help.

    Thanks :-)

The Kernel Object can do this, but that's Developer only. The next version of my Power System Object will have this feature though.

DEKE15, you can restrict the area in which you can move your objects around the screen. Try this example. I will work on an example for making the mouse move. Let me know if this helps you.

Re: Mouse Control and mouse cursor

Thanks stephen1980, that helped alot. But do you know of a way to restrict the movement of the mouse without using mouse movement setting (assign a zone).

I'm using xmouse and ymouse to place a cursor at the mouse position - although using this method I can't restrict the mouse movement.

Any help with this would be appreciated, thanks.

Re: Mouse Control and mouse cursor

    You'll need the mouse object.
    Max((MouseY( "Mouse object" )-YMouse),Screen Height/2)
And use the Cursor object to set the cursor instead of using an active.

Oh and this will work to move the mouse to a different part of the Screen:
    Always:
(Mouse Object)->Set Actual Mouse X to(MouseX( "Mouse object" )-XMouse+[the X position of where you want the mouse relative to the frame])
(Mouse Object)->Set Actual Mouse Y to(MouseY( "Mouse object" )-YMouse+[the Y position of where you want the mouse])

Re: Mouse Control and mouse cursor

    Hi,

    I just tried the:

    Max((MouseY( "Mouse object" )-YMouse),Screen Height/2)

and it didn't do anything - I must have done it wrong.
Could you please tell me how I actually input this command.

Do I put and always event in and then put the code in the mouse object column.
As you can see I'm a bit stuck - I'm new to MMF.
Any help - or a step by step guide would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks :-)

Re: Mouse Control and mouse cursor

If you use the Drag Object to restrict areas of dragged objects, would that solve your problem?

Re: Mouse Control and mouse cursor

Thanks for the help, but the thing I want to do is just to restrict the area of movement for the mouse/cursor (not a dragged object).
When I goto full screen with keep aspect ratio on (800x600) the mouse can still be moved over the edges of the screen - Basically off the play area and into the black border on the left and right of the screen.

I want to stop this (for just when the game is in full screen keep aspect ratio mode) then when the game's resolution is changed and the game is played in a window the mouse is free to move all over.

Is there a way to do this i.e. limit/make the cursor only stay in the play area/screen when the game is using full screen so the mouse doesn't move into the side black borders that appear when the keep aspect ratio is on. But then when the game is switch to windowed mode (played in a window) the mouse isn't restrict.
    Hope that made sense :-)
    Thanks
