    NEED BACKGROUND HELP

Okay. I have a small object that is created when you press a switch. I want this object to be like a beam of light, so I have it wipe the background with the same color it is. When I press the switch again I want the background that was created to go away. How do I do that?

And if that isn't possible, what other way can I create a trail without continuously creating objects?

    Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for, but it sounds like you want the beam to blend with the objects behind it? If so, you can try making it semi-transparent or play with the various Ink Effects in the Active Object's properties.

Is it a beam emitting from the switch or just a full screen effect you are trying to acheive? Can you elaborate a little more on what you are trying to make?

Alright. I have a flashlight block. This block creates a lazer-like beam. The beam is just a ball trailing color behind it by wiping the background with color.

THis ball is created when I flip the switch. When I flip the switch again, I want the ball AND the trail it made to go away, so it looks like everything is reset.

Can you just make a really big, single active object? Or scale the object to be as long as you need it to be?

No. Cause all I want is to mark the trail of where the ball has been.

Sorry, when you said beam of light/flashlight I assumed a straight line (since beams of light don't curve, generally). If you want a trailing "tail" of light, then I think you need to make multiple copies like you currently are.

    Re: NEED BACKGROUND HELP

Mmm. Yeah, it is going to curve cause you are going to have to drag mirrors and stuff to alter its direction. What I'm doing right now is just wiping the background with the same color that the ball is. I do not want to make multiple copies at all, because that lags the screen. Do you perhaps know of an extension object that would help?

    Re: NEED BACKGROUND HELP

This is a bit off-topic, but how are you making the ball move? I wouldn't recommend you use the Bouncing Ball movement for accurate angular bouncing.

    But I digress.

About your ball thing. The Vectorial Shape object would be perfect for what you're trying to accomplish, but it's still in beta and has that annoying nag text. The Active Picture object has the capability of pasting an image (such as your ball) into the background and then deleting it.

You can experiment with those, and tell us if you got anywhere.

Do you know where I could find the extension for the Vectorial Shape object?
