    The player won't die

    Hi!
    I need a little help.

I have a dynamite that kill the player if it is too close. And it's working fine. I use the flame extension object to create a flame in the back of the player when it get the coin. And that's working too, but the player won't get killed when it's overlapping the flames. I have also tried with an other active object, but it's the same. Not working. I use a Qualifiers on the deadly things that killing the player. I also deactivate all the other groups and the run the killing animation on pkayer. I don't understand why it's working with the dynamite and not other objects.

I would be very thankful if I can get some help with this.

    Thanks

You would need to provide your code, we cannot know how events are you using.
Generally, if there is a flame that should kill the player when touched, you would need to use "flame overlaps player" -> Subtract 1 from Life. If Life<=0 -> player is dead.

Yes, I know, but I use exactly the same code with dynamite and that works. And I use the platform movement object. I can upload the file if you want.

    He he!

Here is the file anyway. Please take a look at it. Something must be wrong.

The event is in the death group at the bottom.

The file you must download is "Application.mfa"

    "Z-key" to place a dynamite
Not Dynamite in this forum, but a real dynamite that explode.

Death is activated when the hedgehog is overlapping the "1 stick dynamite collectable" object rather than "1 stick dynamite" object. Switch it and it should work.

No it does not. Death is activated when player overlaps group bad.
Anyway i dont see how dynamite death work. It work the same as if you hit instant death object. Only differene is that if you stand on groud without moving then dynamite death will trigger explo ii animation. If you are moving it time of death it will get stuck in whatever animation is currently playing.
And i dont thing that flame object have any support for collisions. I may be wrong since i never used it before.

    //edit// removed link

I thought I had something there... I changed an event and it actually fixed the death... but now that I'm looking closer at your source, I can see more what you're doing... and the change I made probably messed more up than it fixed. In fact, I'm not really sure why it fixed the death.

I jumped the gun - I'm sorry. I thought the timer the dynamite counter was a countdown timer... and then went from there without looking at the events to confirm the assumption. :P

    Re: The player won't die

I think I know what the problem is. If I deactivate the whole player group, it also deactivate the sub-groups. Then it works, but I have to move the groups Obstacle and Lives out from the player-group. So, it must be a sub-group in the player-group that I have to deactivate. The easest way is to deactivate the whole player-group, I think.

    I think I cheated. :P

I created a new object for the explosion... and a new object to detect the flame.
