    MMF2 - Edit Improvement Suggestion

I don't if if these have been suggested but I have a couple of suggestions for MMF2 editing.

    1. In an event you can edit and copy/paste object name changes for example in the expression editor. For example I am able to change Datagrid - Grid A to Datagrid - Grid B simply by copy and paste. But I would also like the same ability with the object the event is assigned to without having to go the event editor and move check marks around.

    2. I would like to have a search feature so you can be in the event editor and say show me everywhere Datagrid - Grid B is used. It would search down the code and highlight this text so you could do a copy and replace for example.

    3. I would like to have debugging features that flash to show you where they are. For example if something is not computing correctly I tend to put in a popup message showing me the value of a value, like the number of records retrieved from SQLite, and this stops the program so I can debug. Once the debugging is done I want to delete the debugging code.

    4. Sometimes I want to highlight an action and say don't execute this action. Currently, I don't have to delete it and then try to remember what the code was later. I still want the event to function but just certain actions to not execute. This could be part of debugging.

For 2 you can just click the object icon and it filters those events out... it includes both actions and conditions too, so it covers everything.

For 3 - I don't know how a debugger would work, as technically, there can be no bugs!! Everything you code are set events, so any bugs will only be with how you've gone about things - so how would the computer know if it's a bug? (I hope that makes sense)

For 4 - can't you just add a "never" condition to event lines you want to temporarily remove - that might work?

For 4 it not that I want "event" to not work. Just want to prevent an action or actions from working for debugging purposes. Some actions can be very complex and I don't really want to just delete them. I just want to disable them and then later perhaps reenable them.

That's what "Never" does - it just disables the code from happening, then to make it work again delete the "Never" condition.

It sounds like he wants to comment out just an couple of actions and not the whole event line.

number 1 I'm almost positive you can already do unless you don't want to have to go to the event editor at all...

Actually, can't you just double click on the icon in the action editor too?

You can double-click on the objects in the condition, but not on the expression tool-tip thing.

I agree with the expression editor. Its annoying having to change heaps of objects from within the expression editor.
But what I do as a shortcut is say you have an object called 'active' which you want to replace with object 'deep sea creature', what i do is rename 'deep sea creature' to 'active2' and then all i do is put a 2 at teh end of the already existing 'active', the you rename it back once its done.
