Of course not, because built-in movements (e.g. bouncing ball) automatically affects animations direction. Imagine one simple example: an object with 4 animation dirs (left, right, up and down) and you assign to it 32-dirs bouncing ball. You have no way how to find out which of the 4 dirs is displayed. Get animation direction will return movement direction. This is just an example, but this makes really big troubles with more advanced engines.
But if you're always setting the direction to the value that should override the automatic changes...

eh? If you manually set direction, then you affect the movement, so it is useless. And mainly it doesnt solve the main problem. Think about the example I posted above.

Don't manually set direction, set animation direction only.

But you cannot set the correct animation direction when you use built-in movement! That is what the whole issue is about...Again, think about the example:
Ball with 4 anim. directions moves in 32 dir movement. You need to find out which of the 4 anim dirs is displayed. Thats all. No manual setting will help you, you need to retrieve data from MMF calculated movement.
    Hope its clear now

Sometimes I need to know the size of the area occupied by the text of a String object (not the size of the String object). The Calculate Text Rect extension does the job fine. But it only works with the regular runtime.

If only the GetTextWidth() and GetTextHeight() expressions of the Calculate Text Rect extension could be built-in the String object. This would make my life easier. Isn't it a good idea? Especially since the author of this extension is none other than Chris Branch.

For music and sound data elements I was thinking maybe there should be a delete button. When clicked it asks if you want to continue and if yes removes any events using that music/sound so you would not have to locate each event if there was lots. Also if the sound/music is removed it should update the list rather than having to save and reload the project.

    Simple GUI Suggestion/Idea -

If you are on a objects properties page it would be useful if hovering over a bit of text showed the full bit of text. When on a laptop sections sometimes have to be expanded to read all the text. This would just make it so you didn't have to do that each time if your on a smaller screen and all you would do is hover over the text for a second etc.

Not sure if this question has been asked. It probably has many times, but anyway. When will we see a final build for 249? I was hoping to try this after this version was out of beta testing.
Maybe when the links on the right side bar show 249, is that when we'll see a final 249 build?

I also take it there are still bugs in effect as noted in the first post in this topic?

You have probably seen this thread but here is loads of good requests and simple ideas which would be great for MMF. Some of them might be things to consider for betas/updates maybe -

Missing events feature and suggestion -

If your in the events editor and you right click and go 'Edit the actions' it would be nice to have a option to Ctrl+click select multiple events and also Click+Shift+Click like you can in the main editor lists. It would also be nice to have the back button for when making widgets as you can't work with list style editing unless you are using this and it would make it easier. Having the main list view for widgets events though would be really useful also.
