MMF2 Activex and Spread 8 Activex

I am using the Spread 8 activex from Farpoint Technologies within MMF. I try using the grid but it just did not have the power I needed.

Everything has been fine except they use two methods for copying data, forumlas and formatting to a new sheet in the workbook:

    LoadBlocktoBuffer and SaveBlockto Buffer

The Block is just a range of cells like Row1, Col1 to Row15, Col5.

Other functions have been working fine but these will not work with the MMF activex.

Could Clickteam speak with them and figure out why the activex extension will not allow these to functions to work. I assume it has to do with the way memory is being accessed????

Maybe these functions use data types that are not supported by MMF. Does this control contain methods to load/save from a file? If so you could use a temporary file for that.

Re: MMF2 Activex and Spread 8 Activex

It allows you to save the entire workbook but not a single sheet. They only use the LoadBlocktoBuffer and SaveBlockfromBuffer to copy data, formatting and formulas to a new sheet. I also had hoped they would allow a copy and paste but this is not the case either.

Its getting and copying the formulas that is the real problem and where the buffer comes into play.

Re: MMF2 Activex and Spread 8 Activex

In researching the problem it appears the MMF2 activex extension may use a wrapper where it sees the "Pass by Value" variables of methods, but not the "Pass by Reference" variables. Is there a way to update the MMF2 activex extension so this would be compatible with a "Pass by Reference"? If so, then the getting and passing of Workbook handles and hWnd handles would work I think.

For example, using a method for getting information for importing an Excel spreadsheet, the method list 6 parameters. Four are "Pass by Value" and two are "Pass by Reference". The MMF2 activex extension sees the four "Pass by Value" but does not see or list the two "Pass by Reference" variables.

So most of the methods, actions, and properties of the Spread 8 work fine but just a few do not. Anyway, I am unsure if anything can be done, but I want to check.

It's not easy to do in the current version of the ActiveX object.

Thanks Yves for the feedback. I will work on a workaround.
