    Declaration of Expression tools

    Hey people,

I think I'm turning mad, but I can't find any decleration on the Expression calculation tools (Left$, Val, Mid$, SQR etc) and where can I find the hidden ones (like Atan2, MIN, MA declared?

I've tried looking up regular graph calculator reference (even looking at my own) but I still can't decipher what MAX and MIN does for example.

Any help would be greatly appriciated

They should be detailed in MMF2's own Help (F1 from anywhere at all).

If it helps, MAX/MIN both take two numbers and return the higher/lower of the two.

Thanks This makes my life a lot easier.

Jeff - I think a small re-structuring of the help file can help a lot. I'm used to 3dsmax and Maya's helpfile which has self-reference (like a wiki) and "related articles" or "further reading". You can also search on any term and it looks inside each article as well (I tried searching for atan2 etc but to no avail).

    Re: Declaration of Expression tools

I looked up special object but didn't find a specific decleration.

How do I call "Arc tangent of y/x" and use it in the expression window? And how do I use all the commands that you can't invoke by a button in the expression window? (like atan2?)

In a developer tool I tend to belive this is very important matters. If I don't know what kind of tools I have at my disposal in easy reference it becomes harder than it should.

    Re: Declaration of Expression tools

In the expression editor, click on the 'Retrieve data from an object' button. Right click on the icon labelled 'Special', navigate to the 'Sine and cosine' menu, and select the item you require (such as arc tangent of y/x).

The 'Retrieve Data from an Object' window allows you to view the complete list of expressions supported for each object. Personally I think they should merge this window with the main expression editor (and display the list of objects above the expression box), as not only would it make life quicker for more experienced users; it would also introduce newer users more quickly to the true power of MMF2!

If you know the name of the function (in this case atan2()) you can just type it in. Otherwise find it under "retrieve data".
