MMF2 built in platform movement question

I'm using the built in platform movement and ran into a little problem. I have the active object with the platform movement, and I have the backdrops that are the obstacles. In the events editor I have if my active object collides with the backdrop, stop movement So the active object doesn't fall through the backdrops.

The problem I'm having is when the active object hits a wall, the active object wont move again until it lands. Even if you are on the ground and your hold down right or left while against a wall and jump, you wont be able to move again until you land. Its like if the character hits a wall and is in mid air, he becomes paralyzed until he hits the ground. Is there any way to have it so if you hit a wall you can still freely move using the built in platform movement? Thanks

There's no clean and nice way to get the built in platform movement to be nice, but then there's an extension named "Platform Movement Object" which does it perfectly, so look into that.

There's also my platform movement widget if you prefer that.
