Transparent Editbox

Hi there!

In my game im currently making, I need to have a transparent chat box - similar to how they are in most MMOs.

So I'm using an editbox, ticked the transparent box hoping that would be the easy solution, but it's just filled it with a solid colour from the background and its not transparent at all.

Does anyone know a way to solve this?

You may get away with placing the edit box out of the frame and have a string echo the edit box when you put focus on the edit box. You can also incase the string in a nice frame. This would like the user is typing at the string, but infact would be typing in the Edit Box.

I'd like something similar, but with the extended options of rich edit, such as coloring, RTF etc... I'm nearly sure, but can anyone confirm there is no text object that supports different font colors and has a transparent background too ?

No, he was referring to coloring, RTF etc...
