    MMF2 Extension Request : OE-Cake Fluid extension

    Hi,
This request is not only for a personnal project or for the fun of playing with fluids, but to propulse MMF2 physics games further.

I'm working with Box2D right now and i must say, physics games are awesome (clever I am!)
But, fluids engine are nowhere to be found.

On my research, I discovered OE-Cake, an engine that simulate fluids like water, lava, gaz, acid, etc. I am not a programmer, but more a Game Designer. I Lack the knownledge to convert engine. Therefore, I don't really know if my demand is realistic.

But I do call the community of MMF Programmer to look on this matter, as this could be benifit to us all.

I'm sorry if my english isn't perfect, my sincere apologize.
Do not hesitate to correct me, as only errors leads to progress.

Re: MMF2 Extension Request : OE-Cake Fluid extension

I just downloaded OE-Cake and the fluid physics are amazing. I've been playing with it for half an hour!
Anyway, it's closed-source as far as I can see, which makes it impossible to convert into an extension. I guess it wouldn't run that great on today's hardware anyway, complex stuff really slows it down.
There probably are other open-source fluid engines which should do the job, though. I'm not sure if there will ever be an extension, though.
You can use Box2D for really simple soft bodies, by the way, it's complex using joints and that stuff, but it is possible.

Re: MMF2 Extension Request : OE-Cake Fluid extension

I already work with Box2d, for the Flex-Game Demo (ragdoll engine)
But for a project i'm looking for a great fluid engine!

I contacted Physios, and i'll see if they are willing to help a bit on that matter.
At my job i got several programmers already willing to make an extension for MMF2, so if i can access the source-code, well ladies and gentlemen, we might have it.
As for the hardware requirement, I think we'll have to tare apart some of the features.. but the fluid engine should be ok.

In any case, i'll find a way around.
but if someone DOES find something before me, let us know! this would help the whole MMF2 comunity!

If you want to try a sandbox software for physics, there is also Algodoo (http://www.algodoo.com) which is for general 2D physics but still dealing with fluid.
