    Standard vs. DirectX problem-- Lasers

    Hi guys--

I have a mini laser tutorial that for some reason works just fine in "Standard" mode, but slows down to a crawl in "DirectX" mode.

This didn't happen when I had Windows XP, but started once I upgraded to Windows 7.
I want to eventually be able to incorporate this into a game where HWA will be used.

    Here's the file

Anyone know what's going on? Thanks!

I just tried it with DirectX + VRAM, and it seems to work fine now. I guess I never tried VRAM before because people said it was useless...

I'm still curious as to why +VRAM works but not regular DirectX?

Hi, I myself never found the point of using DirectX.
DirectX games never ran any faster for me... and my computer is pretty good.
I think DirectX+VRAM means that MMF will also use your graphic card's RAM.

I'm not sure if you aware of this, but HWA is another runtime, Direct3D. It is based on DirectX, but it is far superior.
If you haven't already, download it here and stry it out.

Thanks-- I've actually got HWA, and when I tried Direct3D, the application came up as just a black screen...

I have Windows 7, don't know if that makes a difference.

Hm, weird, I just tried it and I'm having the same problem. This really shouldn't happen, I've never had this problem before.

Black screen when running Direct3D (runs fine on standard). Everything seems to work, but there is no image.

    Windows Seven 64 bits
    geforce 9600 gx

Running build 249 (HWA Beta 10)
