    Windows Registry may install a program

    I would explain to me how you can take the address of Windows Registry may install a program to make a update.
    example: the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Microsoft Games \ Age of Empires 3 \ 1.0
    "SetupPath" = "D: \ \ Program Files \ Microsoft Games \ \ Age of Empires III \ \"
    we see that the installation is on drive D: / and not in c: / as they could
    aid in meeting with me
    Obtain the directory from the Registry
    Uses information contained in the Registry to choose the installation directory.
    For example:

    Root key = HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
    Key = txtfile \ shell \ open \ command

    This would return the value: "C: \ windows \ notepad.exe% 1", would suppress your installation program parameters and the file name and retain only its path. In this case it would be "C: \ windows"

    but I do not understand
    pardon for my bad English I'm Argentine and I speak Spanish

    In the Options tab, use this :

    Root key = HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    Key = SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires 3\1.0
    Sub-key = SetupPath

    Does this answer your question?

    Re: Windows Registry may install a program

    Ye opccion and try that did not work.
    My setup must detect by recording a previous installation to register.
    Not all programs are installed in C: / program file, can be installed on D: / my game for example.
    How can I detect it?
    The register shows me the installation path and make my installer read the route and I install my product on the route read in the register, like an update.

    Re: Windows Registry may install a program

    Well, if Age of Empire 3 is installed on your machine, if the ""D:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III" directory exists on your machine and if the registry key you mentionned exists too, then that should work...
