Will MMF2 HWA allow for direct changes to screen?

    Hi,

Will HWA have effects like blur, AA, change of color and brightness changable at runtime? Is this a planned feature for MMF2 HWA?

    Thanks

Blur, and changing colour and brightness can be done with shaders.

    no AA, so far.

May I ask what is AA in brain leakage terms?

    Thanks

You can sort of - set your Window and frame to 1280x960 for example, then tick the options to allow resizing of the screen and at the start of the game resize the window to 640x480 with the window object - the default option is smooth scaling (although you can turn this off) which does more or less the same thing.

Re: Will MMF2 HWA allow for direct changes to screen?

Graphics cards did literally use to do that (rendering to a larger surface and then downsampling to get supersampling), but most often these days multisampling is used instead, which does nothing in a 2D application. Multisampling only does multiple samples of the depth and stencil buffers, and of the polygon edges. It doesn't do multiple samples of the colour or alpha of each pixel, so edges inside a sprite aren't antialiased.

The best method of anti-aliasing a sprite is to draw it at twice the size it's being rendered at, then scale it down 50% at runtime and let the texture filter handle it.
