    crafty-23.0-win32 / crafty-23.2-win32

I found a glitch on the program crafty-23.2-win32.exe related to the chess object. When the white king is still in the original position e-1 and if you try to make a queenside castling while the white knight is still in his original position of b-1 the program feezes.

The same applies to other like situations: if you have a white queen at e-1 and try to move to c-1 or white rook at e-1 and try to move it to c-1.

Doing this freezes the system and it is necessary to CTR-ALT-DEL to close the application and restore your system. I would like to know where I may contact to address this issue.

Any contact name I can address this issue to?

    Thanks.

This is very interesting. Can you verify that this bug is indeed in Crafty? I think that is very unlikely. It may be a bug in the MMF game itself or the Chess object.

Basically, the object will crash if you ever play a move that is invalid. It is probably a bug somewhere in the code that checks if the move is valid. Can you try to verify where this bug is exactly? (Crafty, Object, or Game).

    Mr. Mokhtar M. Khorshid,

You may download the program here:
    http://www.chess-poster.com/Chess_Object.zip

These are the original files taken from the
February 2010 ClikDisc issue. Just take note that
there should be a folder named "Engine" with the
    crafty-23.0-win32.exe, book.bin, bookc.bin, and
books.bin in it. Also is included the .mfa source
    file.

By running the Chess.exe you can easily replicate
the moves mentioned above that freeze the system.

I already went through the mfa code and I could not find
anything wrong that causes this issue. I believe that
the problem resides in the crafty-23.0-win32.exe code.

The same applies to the new version or update of
crafty-23.2-win32.exe. I already tried both. Other than
that, the program works great!! I plays chess very good.

Unfortunately, I'm way too busy to debug this fully right now. But I seriously think this is a bug in our object. The part that checks for valid moves was written by Michael so I'm not very sure what's going on in there, but I will send you an update to try out.
