resizing a video and maintaining the ratio

resizing a video and maintaining the ratio...

I have a video that is 1024 x 576 and I want it to resize to whatever the screen size is. So for example: If my monitor is 2048 wide I can work out the difference and add that to the x axis.

How do I get the pixels length of the Y axis

Cheers
J

By setting up a proportion and solving it:

1024[color:#FFFFFF].....2048
------ =[color:#FFFFFF]..------
576[color:#FFFFFF]........x

Ah got it now thanks...

value X = screen width. Original size of video=1024x576.

(Value X*576)/1024

Re: resizing a video and maintaining the ratio

Hi there
i'm returning to this as i'm really hoping there is a solution via an extension and my feeble brain is still not getting the above problem to work accurately enough.

Question 1. Is there anyway to maintain decimal points in the calculator without using the Precision Cal extention (which wants me to turn everything to strings first)?

Question 2. Is there an object out there that will help me resize a picture object while maintaining the correct ratio?

I have a target viewing area 360 X 288.

I need to be able to read the orginal width of a pic and then resize it to fit 360 x (whatever the final size is) pixels. If the height is still greater than 288, I need to be able to resize the resized width in ratio to the height.

Cheers
John

What? Can't you just use decimal places in the first place? What do you mean 'in the calculator'?
