saving things in a flash game

    Hey!

I am making a game that i'm going to place on a website as a swf game. I usually use ini for saving (for example to save on which level you stopped so you can continue there). How can a swf save things like that? I guess the only way is by saving it to your cookies but I don't know how to. Can anyone explain or point me towards a tutorial maybe? Thanks in advance!

The ini object works in Flash : it saves in a special file place of the Flash player.

So the game will be saved, and it won't be affected by cookies? So you will still have your saved game when you clear your browser?

Once you clear your cache the saved game will be lost.

Is there anyway to save a game that is not lost when the cache is cleared?

Have the users create accounts and use the Get object with PHP scripts to manage thier account? That'd allow for use across multiple computers, but would take a lot more effort to pull off. Why would you even want a game to not be lost during a cache clear anyway!?

Perhaps if I were designing a series of games similar to an rpg that let players keep their characters (including equipment, skill improvements, experience, etc...) from one game to the next.
