How do I create a Password protection in-game?

Ok. Say my first frame is a black screen. Now, secretly and invisibly, I must type the word Gotcha, in order to advance to frame 2. How do I do that?

Re: How do I create a Password box on the screen?

I can do it the hard way using invisible actives and collision checking, but I'm almost betting someone already came up with an easy extension for this that you can preset your strings in a property box of the extension and then when you get to that screen, it won't let you get past it without typing the preset password.

Wait - why can't you use a modal subapp with an editbox set to password with the preset password in an alterable string?

I don't understand why you'd need collision checking or any other thing.

Ok. So you start your app.
2- a black screen comes up.
3- if user don't type the word Gotcha, he or she cannot get past the black screen.
    It's that simple.
No need for dialog box at all to be honest. I just want to assign an invisible secret password for the first screen in-game, so no one else gets past the black screen without typing the exact word stored.

I would just do that with an off-screen edit box - set its focus to on at the start of the frame, and move to the next frame when (compare two general values) Edittext$("Edit") == "gotcha".

    I don't see why editbox isn't enough...

Edit box! ok. I'll fiddle with that. This is my first time doing this so I had no clue how to do it in detail, lol.

Re: How do I create a Password box on the screen?

David, I followed your commands and got stuck at the expression calculator. I typed Edittext$("Edit") == "gotcha". But it says it can't understand my expression. This happens at the top white space. The white space at the bottom has a red number 0 in it. Am I typing something wrong or missing a space somewhere?

Re: How do I create a Password box on the screen?

Oh, that was just my notation - use:

Edittext$("Edit Box") in the top box (or whatever the object's name is)

    "gotcha" in the bottom box

And make sure that the dropdown list in the middle is "equals".

Therefore, you're checking for: Edittext$("Edit Box") = "gotcha".
