    Advanced Path Movement Object Freezes App

    Hi!

    Is there a possibility to avoid freezing
    of the application if i use the APM-Object?!?

    It sometime happens in my game, and i have
    no idea how to solve this problem

    Yes. There is a possibility. I used this object for a marble game with as many APM-Objects as marbles and nothing bad happened. But it's a difficult object. One has to take time to master it. I wish you good luck !

    Hi! I think the problem appears if the extension
    calculates the journey. you wrote there is a possibility -
    could you describe how you solved this problem?!? or maybe have an example?!? thanks alot!

    Well, I just said that I experienced no freezing. I just created nodes and inserted links between them. Perhaps your computer is just slower than mine. I'm sorry : english is not my first language. By "freezing", do you mean that there is a little pause or that your game crashes ?

    i mean, that the whole application pauses.
    I've around 50 nodes from 0 to 3500 pixel width.

    maybe it depends if nodes connected have a total different number. (ae node 12 next to node 43)

    Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I'm having this same issue with the advanced path movement with 136 nodes. The application freezes for up to a few minutes before it jolts back into action, during which the edrt.exe process seems to use 25% of my CPU.

    This seems to only happen when you replot a journey towards the node that the object is already moving towards. I have temporarily fixed the problem by adding a negated "Is moving?" condition to the event that finds a journey and starts the movement, but this makes it impossible for the object to switch to a new journey before reaching it's end node.

    Any idea how this problem can be circumvented or fixed?

    Addendum: What I find is interesting is this problem seems to be reproducable in one of the example applications that comes with the object "Adventure.mfa". Try clicking the nodes on either side of the character repeatedly and you will notice a few second freeze.

    Bump:

    Can anyone verify that this is an inherent bug in the Advanced Path Movement object? I'm not finding any sort of workaround that doesn't freeze my app.

    Suggestions highly appreciated.

    I've used this extension quite a bit without running into this problem...

    Are you resetting the start location before re-planning a journey?

    Also are you using 'path as collision to others' ?

    Yes, I'm clearing the path (set to 1 to keep the last node).
    The freeze seems to occur at the Find Journey event.

    I'm not using 'path as collision to others', and in fact haven't seen that as an option. How do you do that?

    I have uploaded a stripped down version of my app that should illustrate the problem. If you let it run for a few seconds it will eventually freeze because of the randomized enemy movement:
