help and advice in regard to mochi scores

I was thinking of using the mochi scores and leaderboard to my first flash game "Prairie Sheriff".

However i am realy unsure, after reading the help file it seems pretty easy to use.

But how would you keep the game from going public ?

Currently i use the mmf highscore object at the moment this works very well, but limited to just the single user trying to better there personal score.

I feel the game would benifit with the mochi scores.

I assume i can keep the local mmf highscore and set it up if you do not wish to post your score on the mochi leader board, jump to current highscore frame ?

If you have play tested the game i would appricate any advice you have.

    Thank you

You can send the highscore to Mochi whenever you like, allowing to use both, offline scores and the optional online leaderboard for players who want to submit.

The game can have a leaderboard without going public. You just "add" the game to Mochi by entering the title. No need to upload the game, once it's profile is created you can create and access a leaderboard.

Thanks Joka but what happens if a user was to submit a highscore ?

    Say before a sponsor bidds.

At present if you die you go to the current highscore frame if you have a highscore you enter details if not it just shows the current scores.

Either way you now have the option of exit or retry.

Currently i am NOT confidient enough to implement the mochi scores without some help.

But i look forward to learning and using it in future games.

Re: help and advice in regard to mochi scores

For my latest games I just showed a message like "Prepared for Mochi Leaderboard (currently disabled)" and didn't submit anything while listed on FGL.

You could also create a small test app to play with these new options.

Yes, the leaderboard is fully functional.

Once you create a leaderboard, you can retrieve it's ID by clicking on "Actionscript code" on the highscores site.

You set this ID once in your game, then you can add scores or display the leaderboard.
