    Importing Transparent Graphics

I have a couple of transparent .png files that I want to import into MMF. However, when I import them, they have black backgrounds in the image editor. When I set the transparency color to black, this also makes black elements of the sprite itself transparent (for example, black eyebrows = missing spaces in head).

I could fix this by running every file through Photoshop and adding a lime green background to each one, but that would take hours. Does MMF support importing transparent .pngs? If not, how can I remove a black transparent background without deleting black elements inside the image itself?

Can you not change the transparent color in the editor , to maybe lime green and fill the background with that color? Transparency need not be black in the MMF editor.

when you import pngs into mmf it automatically will use the alpha channel of the png as transparency.

to keep colours from also becoming transparent (default is black) change the transparent colour on the import screen to some colour your image doesn't contain. this will allow you to keep black and also use the transparency the png provides.

Zeal - are you sure your images have an alpha channel?

    Re: Importing Transparent Graphics

How can I tell if my images have an alpha channel? They show up as transparent in other image editors, like Photoshop. When I import them into MMF and select a "transparent color" of lime green (a color my image doesn't include), the background becomes a solid black.

    Re: Importing Transparent Graphics

The idea is that your image either has an alpha channel to allow semi-transparent areas or to avoid using up certian colors as transparent. If the image has a transparent color, then you will need to make sure that only transparent areas contain this color. When you import the image, if you don't change any settings it will import correctly almost always.

click the alpha icon in the image editor within mmf, you'll have two boxes you can select, show and edit - click the show and see if your image has an alpha, the solid parts should be white and the transparent ones black

    Re: Importing Transparent Graphics

My images do have an alpha channel for transparency; the problem is that when I import them into the image editor in MMF the transparent areas are filled in with black automatically. Maybe if I uploaded one of them to show you guys it would help?

I'm also not seeing an "alpha" button in my image editor.

Yes, upload a PNG file so we can test.
